General Information about Kocaeli
Kocaeli is a major industrial and commercial city located in the Marmara Region of Turkey, just east of Istanbul. As of 2024, its population is around 2.09 million.
Strategically positioned between Europe and Asia, Kocaeli serves as a key connection point for land, sea, and rail transportation. Historically known as Nicomedia, the city has been home to civilizations such as the Bithynians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans.
