Iğdır City Guide
Iğdır is located in the easternmost part of Turkey, bordering Armenia, Nakhchivan (Azerbaijan), and Iran. As of 2024, its population is about 205,000. Situated on the fertile Iğdır Plain at the foothills of Mount Ararat, the city enjoys one of the mildest microclimates in Eastern Anatolia, making it an important agricultural hub.
Throughout history, Iğdır has been influenced by Urartian, Persian, Seljuk, Ilkhanid, and Ottoman civilizations. Agriculture and livestock are key economic drivers. The Iğdır Apricot is famous nationwide and internationally recognized. Cotton, wheat, sugar beet, and grapes are also widely cultivated.
Culturally, Iğdır is home to a mix of Azerbaijani and Kurdish communities, reflected in its music, dance, and culinary traditions.

Bus Terminal
The Iğdır Intercity Bus Terminal serves as a hub between Eastern Anatolia and the Caucasus. There are regular connections to Erzurum, Kars, Ağrı, Van, and Nakhchivan. Facilities include ticket offices, lounges, restaurants, and minibus links to districts.

- By Road: Kars–Iğdır ~140 km, Erzurum–Iğdır ~280 km, Ağrı–Iğdır ~140 km.
- By Rail: No active passenger railway line exists.
